Sequestered cells between zona pellucida and trophoblast

Low power TEM of sequestered cells (SC) of a stage 3 embryo in vitro, 145-170 hours post-insemination (original magnification x5,400). Sequestered cells are located between the zona pellucida (ZP) and the trophoblast (T). They appear as anuclear discarded cells containing chromatin-like material (Ch), vacuoles (V), and mitochondria (M).
